In 2021 I conceived and built my own electronic viola with built in midi buttons and rotary knobs that I use to control effects in Ableton Live. The project involved deconstructing an existing viola, soldering various parts and wires inside it, and then coding an Arduino that communicates with Ableton as a midi control device.

I have since performed on this instrument multiple times at the Art Gallery of NSW alongside a vocalist.  I use this instrument mainly as a performance tool, however it can make some pretty wild sounds that prove really fun when composing a new piece of music or sound design.
